Adult Cycle Confidence Sessions

From 2019 to 2023 we had funding from My Journey Southampton to offer free adult cycle confidence sessions. Unfortunately due to government funding cuts to active travel these free sessions have now ended. We do occasionally get some funding from Cycling UK and other cycling charities to continue to offer these sessions for free, please do get in touch to see what is available. If we don’t have funding we can still run these sessions for £25 per hour, if you pay for a cycle confidence session we can offer you a discount on second hand bikes as well.

Our FREE adult cycle confidence sessions were featured on BBC South News at the beginning of March 2022, if you missed it – check out the video here which we have saved. It includes an amazing story of one of our clients who is an Assylum Seeker from Afganistan who has found freedom in riding a bike here in Southamptpon – with a little help from our team! Get in touch to book your adult cycle confidence session.

We can teach people to ride from scratch or just take your for a ride and give you a bit of confidence. In the past we have done sessions with all sorts of people as you can see from the pictures and videos above.

We have helped people plan and try their commutes and showed people routes they can ride safely with their families. The sessions are bespoke to you so do get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Ditch the Stabiliers

We are also experts at teaching kids to ride without stabilisers and often run sessions from our base at Monty’s. We love getting kids cycling at the youngest age possible, so our toddler bike club for preschool children is every Monday morning at 10-11am whilst our stay and play group is on. On Mondays in school holidays we regularly run sessions for older young people, you can fund details of these on our Eventbrite Page where you can book and pay for a session.

Youth Cycle Skills Training & Bikeability

We are experienced cycle instructors and specialise in working with young people from more deprived areas. Currently we delilver Bikeabilty (the new form of cycling proficiency) for Southampton Schools, we do this as a subcontractor for Pedal Power Training ltd. If you are interested in bikeability happening at a school you work with please email us and we can send you the details.

In previous years we have been commissioned by Southampton City Council and been given grant funding from the Bikeability Trust to deliver ‘cycle skills’ sessions for children in school time and in council funded holiday clubs. These informal sessions help young people gain vital cycle skills so they can use their bike safely and take part in Bikeability courses more fully in the future. We are always up for helping other organisations run sessions like this, so get in touch if you want us to come help you get young people cycling.
